The IOU Hebden Bridge Hostel is set in stunning woodland and gardens in the vibrant town of Hebden Bridge, close to the Pennine Way. We are proud to be Yorkshire’s only independent self-catering vegetarian hostel. Healthy Holidays at Hebden Bridge Hostel
Over 2 weeks in July & August, the Hostel hosted 27 children on a creative retreat as part of the Healthy Holidays Calderdale activity programme.

Our neighbours at the Birchcliffe Center- Pennine Heritage and Penine Horizons Digital Archive – have produced a series of 14 walking tours including : The Radical History of Hebden Bridge, Blackshaw Head Pack Horse Trail and Cragg Vale – Mills, Wilderness and Dynasties.

On 7th July we welcomed people to the IOU Hebden Bridge Hostel Open Day. Over 150 people joined us to experience for themselves the newly renovated hostel.
From June to September Hebden Bridge artists Charlotte Mellor Meecham and Bodie Doyle will be working at the hostel on a number of creative projects
IOU is seeking artists specialising in any art form to take up a live-in residency at IOU’s Hebden Bridge Hostel. The residency includes living rent and bill free in a private artist bedroom at the IOU Hebden Bridge Hostel; creating an art project in response to time spent at the hostel with IOU; and supporting the hostel two shifts a week, including time on call.
Run by West Yorkshire-based arts charity IOU, the not-for-profit Hostel provides accessible accommodation for visitors to stay, create and explore.
Perfect for solo travellers, families and groups, for one night, a weekend or longer, to explore the moors and towns of the Calderdale and the South Pennines. Our friendly staff will help you get the most out of your visit.
The Hostel is also available for exclusive use for groups, family holidays and private events with a range of spaces suitable for creative workshops and retreats.
