Saturday 16 September we welcomed over 100 people to the Hostel Open Day
IOU and Arvon Lumb Bank will partner in 2024 to deliver Arvon’s residential writing courses.
The creative writing organisation has been looking for a temporary home for their residential courses while their Lumb Bank centre closes for redevelopment and we’re delighted that we will be working with them to host their programme next year

We’re welcoming Beth Cockcroft to the Hostel as IOU Artist in Residence from May – October 2023
In June Year 6 pupils from St Joseph’s School in Todmorden stayed at the Hostel for their Social Action Retreat
This March we welcomed 19 students and their tutors from the Creative Writing BA course at Leeds Art University for a 3 day workshop with IOU, Arvon Foundation and poets Clare Shaw, Zaffar Kunial and map maker Chris Goddard
On 7th July we welcomed people to the IOU Hebden Bridge Hostel Open Day. Over 150 people joined us to experience for themselves the newly renovated hostel.
Over July & August, the Hebden Bridge Hostel hosted 27 children on two creative retreats as part of the Healthy Holidays Calderdale holiday activity scheme
